HighPoint Senior Editors to Conduct a Training Session at ACES 2018 Conference
Senior Editing Manager Elizabeth LaPlante and Senior Editor Helen O’Guinn will lead a training session about editing government documents at the American Copy Editors Society (ACES) 2018 Conference in Chicago.
The training session, called “Editing for the Federal Government,” will cover applying plain language to government editing, establishing editing procedures and understanding when to be flexible on grammar and style guide rules. LaPlante and O’Guinn also plan to discuss proven ways for editors to effectively communicate with their clients and colleagues.
The American Copy Editors Society, otherwise known as ACES: The Society for Editing, is a not-for-profit association for professional copy editors across all fields and industries. For the past 22 years, ACES has held an annual conference for the nation’s editorial professionals to network and receive training from recognized experts in the field. This year, the ACES annual conference will be held in Chicago from April 26-28.
According to the event page, the 2018 conference is now sold out, but attendees can participate in LaPlante and O’Guinn’s training session on Friday, April 27, from 10:30 through 11:45 a.m.
